Embracing Worship and Gratitude

As we gather to worship and give thanks, we are reminded of God's unwavering faithfulness in our lives. Despite the mundane perceptions we might have, God’s actions are always profound and deserving of all glory and honour. We proclaim His majesty and acknowledge His sovereignty over our lives.

Diving into the Word of God

We focus on the Book of Malachi, specifically chapter 3, verses 6 to 17. Our focus today is on the significance and impact of tithing for a believer. As we read Malachi 3:10, it says, “Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in my house, and prove me now herewith, saith the Lord of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it.”

Understanding Tithing

Tithing, which is the act of giving 10% of your increase or income, is a principle established by God. This 10% does not belong to us but to God. Through tithing, believers can unlock numerous benefits and experience God’s blessings in profound ways.

The Benefits of Tithing

Tithing brings several benefits to a believer’s life. It opens up a trajectory of abundance, attracts God’s protection upon our assets, and provides a defence mechanism for our lives and families. When we activate the principle of tithing, God carves out a unique position for us, setting us apart from others.

God's Assurance and Faithfulness

Malachi assures us of God’s unwavering faithfulness. Our God, who does not change, remains true to His promises. He commands the armies of heaven and will unleash them to protect and defend us when we observe His principles. Despite our vulnerabilities, God’s promise stands firm.

Illustration of God’s Defense

An example of God’s defence can be seen in the story of Moses. After Moses’ death, Satan came to claim his body. At this moment of defenselessness, God sent the Archangel Michael to rebuke Satan and protect Moses' body. Similarly, when we are defenceless, God will send His angels to defend us because of our faithfulness in tithing.

Overcoming Vulnerability

Tithing acts as an insurance for believers. In moments when we are overwhelmed and feel powerless, God remembers our faithfulness and intervenes on our behalf. No creature can ignore God’s command, and when He rebukes the devourer for our sake, it must flee.

The Overflow of Blessings

God promises to overflow our containers with blessings. Regardless of the size of our container, God’s blessings will surpass it. Whether our container is as small as a dish or as large as a ship, God will fill it to overflowing. Our obedience in tithing challenges God’s hand, prompting Him to respond with greater measures of blessings.

A Call to Action

Let us embrace the principle of tithing with a willing heart, knowing that it is for our own sake. By doing so, we open the windows of heaven and invite God’s abundant blessings into our lives. May our lives be filled with God’s favour and provision as we faithfully observe this practice.

Prayer of Blessing

Father, we thank you for your word and the promises contained within it. As we commit to tithing, we ask for your blessings to overflow in our lives. May we experience your protection, provision, and favour in ways we have never imagined. In the name of Jesus, Amen.

Conclusion

God emphasizes that our blessings will overflow if we faithfully bring our tithes and offerings into His storehouse. He promises to rebuke the devourer for our sake and to bless us beyond measure. As we adhere to this principle, we will experience a transformation in our lives, surpassing the limitations and thresholds placed upon us.
