Switching over the hands for the blessing (Part 2)
Scripture Reading: Genesis 48 : 8-14
Date: 25 July 2021
Joseph, Manasseh, and Ephraim visited the patriarch, Jacob. The patriarch decided to release the blessing of the firstborn upon Joseph's family. God took the hand of Jacob and inscribed the testament upon the family of Joseph.
The patriarch summoned Manasseh, and Ephraim. This moment changed the fabric of Israel as a nation. This became a solem and sacred ceremony.
Joseph presented the boys according to the custom. The elder son was supposed to receive the right hand of the patriarch. But contrary to their expectation, Jacob switched his hands over and broke the protocol. For the first time in his life, Ephraim was prioritized. Ephraim was now the firstborn over Israel.
